Yours truly is heading to the Metal Festival to end all Metal Festivals this summer, Wacken Open Air 2006. This will be my first time at the Wacken Open Air Festival, my first time outside of the US for that matter. I know there are many reading this message who have been to Wacken. Thus, I turn to you for advice.

- What is the best airline to take?
- Should I rent a car or take a train from Hamburg to the Festival
- Should I stay at a nearby hotel or do camp ground thing?
- Any gotchas? Anything to be aware of?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks much.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
METALJAM 2005 Show Date and Time, and Signups Announced

The third-annual MetalJam, “MetalJam 2005”, will take place on Saturday October 22 at Hogue Barmichael’s in Newport Beach, CA. MetalJam 2005 features local musicians jamming together to benefit Cure Autism Now, a non-profit organization of parents, clinicians and leading scientists committed to accelerating the pace of biomedical research in autism through raising money for research projects, education and outreach.

Sign-ups for musicians wishing to participate in MetalJam 2005 become available on the website, http://www.metaljam.org, August 8, 2005. Those interested in receiving announcements regarding MetalJam 2005 should sign up for the MetalJam Yahoo Groups mailing list (also available at the MetalJam website).

MetalJam was created in 2003 by local musicians Jenny Warren and Jeff Fahnestock, who are both raising autistic children. The goal was to bring the local music community together as well as raise money for a good cause that was very close to home.

The MetalJam event is a free five hour long jam that includes local musicians and fans, plus radio station personalities and a raffle, with donations taken at the door. MetalJam 2004 was a huge success, with over 40 participants in the jam, nearly 300 audience members, and raising almost $2000 for Cure Autism Now.

In the summer of 1997, I had an idea of making any metal show information I found available online to 20 or so friends of mine.
