This is my review, my experience, of the world’s greatest metal festival. If you are looking for press quality photos of bands on stage, well, I can't offer you much there. However, I do promise to give you my perspective of Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) 2006 with the photos I took.
This summer, I had the time and money to take a decent vacation. I had always dreamed of going to Wacken Open Air, but not alone and on a whim. I had never even been out of the US till now. But, before giving it a second thought, I had purchased my W:O:A 2006 ticket and booked my flight. Giving myself 2 weeks in the fatherland, I decided to stay the first 4 days in Hamburg, then 3 days at W:0:A, and finally 5 days in Berlin. Having booked a rental car and been issued a passport, I was set.
After spending some quality time in Hamburg, it was off to the festival. I decided to get a hotel near by, as I didn’t want to have 2 weeks worth of luggage with me while at the festival. At the last minute, I found a very nice hotel in the village of Albersdorf, 15 miles north of Wacken.
